Visit CNN Studios

Visitors to the city of Atlanta should not miss the opportunity to see the studios of the most important news channel in the world. CNN is produced and transmitted from Atlanta to one billion people in 212 countries around the world.

CNN offers guided tours of approximately 55 minutes, which include the studios of CNN, CNN International, CNN en Español, HLN, and In Session. There are 3 different tour options: Inside CNN Tour, the VIP Tour, and CNN Morning Express. The tickets for all 3 sell out quickly so it’s necessary to reserve them ahead of time.

Those who take the Inside CNN Tour will see the broadcasting studios and see how the news is written, produced, and emitted. The tour goes back stage and allows guests into the editorial room to discover the secrets of the world’s leading news source.

Participants of the CNN VIP Tour have the opportunity to visit the studios and see all the production secrets. They meet the editors, producers, and broadcast technicians. The tour also delves into the technology is used daily to predict the weather and gives you a chance to see the tactile displays; you can try reading from a Teleprompter and see inside Studio 7, the biggest and most sophisticated CNN studio in the world.

The CNN Morning Express Tour takes guests backstage of the most popular morning show presented by Robin Meade. This tour allows entrance to the studio itself and to the control center which transmits the news cycle. It also includes a ‘meet and greet’ with Robin Meade to chat a few minutes and take photos with her. Note that this tour is only for ages 12 and up.

Each of the tours includes the unique opportunity to travel on the mechanical staircase that connects the ground floor to the 8th floor, which was included in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest escalator in the world. Strollers are not permitted on the escalator so babies must be carried.

The tour is given in English, and those who don’t speak English can ask for written transcripts of the tour in other languages. Many of the studios do not permit photographs to be taken.

At the end of the tour you can go to the CNN Store to obtain souvenirs and there’s also a food court on the lowest level with about 15 different fast food options. There are several delicious restaurants on the upper floors where you could possibly find yourself eating with executives or presenters of CNN.

The entrance fee is $16 dollars for the Inside CNN Studio Tour, $35 dollars for the Inside CNN VIP tour, and $49 dollars for the CNN Morning Express Tour.

How to arrive by rental car to CNN

From downtown Atlanta you take Peachtree St NE to Auburn Ave NE, and then Luckie St NW. Later take Centennial Olympic Dr NW to turn onto Marietta St NW.

Because of Atlanta’s traffic, and because many streets have the same names, enabling your rented car’s GPS in your language is mandatory. With this activated you can drive safely through the city.

Where to park the rental car

Those taking any of the tours can park their rental cars in the covered lots of the Centennial Parking Deck located at the intersection of Centennial Olympic Park Drive and Marietta Street. At the bottom of the tour receipt there is a $2 discount for parking there.

Parking is limited so if you decide not to drive you can also take the blue or green lines of the MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) to arrive to the news station studios.
