Disneyland 60th Birthday Celebration
Disneyland was the first Disney theme park created. Located in Anaheim, California, about 27 miles from Los Angeles, it was conceived and founded by Walt Disney himself, on July 17, 1955. Disneyland was the only park that Walt Disney saw in person before his death in 1966.
To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Disneyland is preparing a 24-hour celebration, which will take place on May 22, 2015. For those who do not know the park, it is a good excuse to mark this date on your calendar and start looking into getting a car rental to plan for an unforgettable vacation.
Some of the events that are in store for Disney’s 60th anniversary celebration are:
Paint the Night
This parade will light up the night with floats equiped with 1.5 million LED lamps, Disney characters and costumes; all with Disney classics like Monsters Inc., Toy Story, The Little Mermaid, Frozen, and Beauty and the Beast, among others.
World of Color - Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney
A showing of the most important moments in the life and work of Walt Disney, over dancing water jets, all hosted by Mickey Mouse himself.
This is a nighttime fireworks show, with special effects and scenes from well-known Disney films projected onto attractions like It's A Small World and The Matterhorn, will be accompanied by two new songs: "Live the Magic" and "Kiss Goodnight," composed especially for this event by Richard Sherman; creator of legendary soundtracks of films like Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, and The Aristocats, among others .
Also during the celebration the symbols of both Calfornia parks, the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland and Carthay Circle Theatre at Disney California Adventure, will both be decorated especially to give the atmosphere a ballroom-like feeling.
For those who will be traveling through California by rental car, you should know that the parking fee is $17. If you choose to leave your rental car in the parking area near Downtown Disney, you will have three free hours, and you can add two more free hours with a stamp from the AMC Cinemas or a restaurant ticket. Each additional hour costs $6.
Three billion people have visited Disneyland since it started 60 years ago, and this 24-hour celebration promises to make an unforgettable mark on those 60 years of fun and imagination.
