Visiting the Everglades National Park

The Everglades is a nature reserve that extends across 1.5 million acres, and is comprised of tropical jungles, meadows and marshes. It is a national park, located 40 minutes from downtown Miami, that stretches across three counties (Monroe, Miami-Dade and Collier), and is inhabited by various species, such as American crocodiles, West Indian manatees and Florida panthers.
The park is open every day of the week, and offers a wide variety of activities that you can either do with excursion tours, or own your own. For those who have rented a car, there are three ways to enter the park: through the main entrance in Homestead, through the Shark Valley entrance in Miami, or through the Gulf Coast entrance in Everglades City. By boat, you can also enter the park through its coastal borders and waterways.
