Traveling to South America?

South America is a continent that has about 6,890,000 square miles, with an estimated 400 million inhabitants. It consists of twelve countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela), and it is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the West, the Atlantic to the East, and to the North, the Caribbean sea.

In Ecuador you can visit the beautiful Galapagos Islands, surrounded by ocean water, they are a large marine reserve inhabited by giant turtles and whales. And you can’t miss the Uyuni Salinas in Bolivia, the world's largest salt desert.

Continuing on in your rental car to Chile, you will find the mysterious Easter Island and its 887 "Moai," great big statues of faces all over the island, and the Atacama Desert, known as the driest land in the world; it’s soil has been compared to the planet Mars.

In Brazil, in addition to more traditional tourist spots such as the cities of Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo, you can take a tour of Fernando de Noronha, an archipelago of 21 islands filled with natural species; or Jericoacoara, a beach known as "paradise on earth," surrounded by giant sand dunes. Then you can go  marvel at the massive waterfalls of Iguazu Falls.

And if you head down South of Argentina, you can visit the Perito Moreno Glacier; in the summer, you can see huge chunks of the glacier breaking off as you walk on the ice. Or going down to Ushuaia, the Southernmost city on the planet, you can see the Lighthouse at the end of the world, where Jules Verne was inspired to write one of his novels.
