Requirements to Rent a Car in Orlando:
All car rental companies require that each car rental customer and additional driver meet the minimum age requirement, present a valid driver's license from your country of origin with an acceptable driving record, and present an honored charge card, debit card or cash rental qualification at the time of rental. All forms of identification and forms of payments must be under the same name as the driver or additional driver of the car rental.
Alamo does offer the option to rent a car without a credit card, with certain requirements listed further below.
Minimum Age Requirement:
Car rental companies requires for drivers to be 25 years of age and over. In some exceptions, Alamo will allow for drivers with ages between 21-24 to rent a car for an additional underage surcharge. This surcharge can be anywhere from USD$27 - $35 per day. Exceptions may apply. Reservation must be between the categories of Economy and Full Size and the customer must present a valid credit card without exception for underage drivers.
Valid forms of Identification:
The driver's license must be valid at the time of rental, and remain valid throughout the rental period. Customer with a foreign driver’s license (other than a U.S. or Canadian driver’s license) may be required to also present a valid passport as a secondary form of identification at the time of the car rental return. The name on the passport must match the name displayed on the foreign driver’s license. If the driver’s license is not in Roman alphabet, an international driver’s license will be required.
In some cases, the car rental company may also request to see a return air ticket or itinerary for international renters.
Valid forms of Payments:
Car rental companies requires either a valid charge card or a valid bank debit card with the Visa or MasterCard logo be presented at the time of rental. For customers wanting to use a debit card, this card must have the Visa or MasterCard logo in the debit cards and the debit card must be under the name of the person under the reservation. Alamo in Orlando may perform a credit check for debit card renters to determine credit worthiness at the time of rental.
When paying your rental with a Debit Card, a request for an authorization hold against your account for the amount of estimated charges of the rental will be placed. The funds placed on hold will not be available for your use until the rental is over and funds are reversed. The time it takes for reversal of funds to reflect on your account depends on your individual bank. Not all rental locations outside the U.S. accept debit cards as form of payment.
Alamo does offer the option, at the discretion of the location management at Orlando, to permit a cash rental. A customer without a credit card may have the option to leave a refundable deposit in cash of up to $500 to rent from Alamo Orlando. Customer may only rent between the categories of Economy and Full Size vehicles. Larger cars will not be rented for cash rentals.
Customer must present a valid identification under the same name of the name in the reservation. Foreign customers will be required to present a valid passport and a return airline ticket back to their country of original. The return date on the reservation must have the exact return date of the air ticket back home.
For domestic US customers, some car rental companies will perform a credit check on the customer and based on the results, may or may not decide to rent the car.
The refundable deposit will be returned to the customer after the car has been successfully returned to the car rental company, minus any applicable charges related to extra hours or charges not included in the original reservation.
